Border varieties are noteworthy hardy small garden plants. Flowering at a height of 25 cm (9 inches), they are perfect at the edge of borders. There is a wide colour range and they have wavy petal margins. The flowers are scented. The season of flowering is April through May across the range of varieties. The border auricula is almost indestructible if planted in a well-drained soil. Ideally border auriculas should be grown where there is partial shade from the hot summer sun, but they require little attention, except sub-division every few years.
We have included P X pubescens varieties here also because many of them can be grown in the same way as border auriculas. Where glasshouse culture is better we have indicated this in the description of each plant.
All plants supplied are of flowering size and posted bare-root, without compost or pot.
